Hello World!

Ok..ok. I haven't been around in quite a while. Real life is so much more fun than this alter-electronic world. Besides I do have a facebook page. Lately though, I have been doing a lot of thinking and I needed somewhere to share my thoughts without updating the WHOLE world.

Today, I was thinking about the word VALUE - what it means. I googled it and there are a lot of definitions. Check it out:

Value basically means the relative worth of something. Relative is a key word here. It implies something or someone's value is heavily dependent on the person who assigns worth to a thing.
That's where one man's meat becomes another man's poison. Measuring your value as a human being agaisnt other people's valuation of you is very dangerous. I was reading the Grimm's fairy tale book this week and a lot of stories began with how a master let go of a servant that was to old to be of any more use. The Bible says that the human heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, a star today becomes tommorow's has been. Even though it's important to show people around you that you value them by spending time with them, etc, it still sholuldn't be the basis of your self worth.

Rightly, we hear so much of how we shouldn't measure our worth by the things we have or our intelligence, beauty, etc. Most of the time, the alternative offered is to value ourselves by the number of true friends, family, etc. I still don't agree with that. This kind of wisdom is the wisdom of the world - it originates from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

So how do you know your true worth? Let's go back to the The Tree of  Life - the Word of God.
"For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son"
God so loved-so valued the world (you and me) taht he bought us with His own precious blood!
I am expensive! I am expensive because God valued me enough to die for me. My self worth comes from that knowledge. So now my relationship with my fellow man is not based on how much I value them, it is based on the fact that God values them highly enough to shed blood for them.

Wow. totally changes the way I see the homeless guy on the street corner doesn't it?
